Sussy Cazalet is a London & Norfolk based artist & designer.

Her meticulous watercolour studies & paper collages are translated into woven works of art.

Sussy works on custom commissions creating large scale rugs & tapestries. In May 2023 Sussy presented her first show, consisting of nine woven silk & wool tapestries named ‘Kyoto Sun’ at Tristan Hoare Gallery London.

Sussy was born in London & originally trained as a classical musician, music being an intricate part of her inspiration to this day.  Her London degree in printed textiles was followed by a design BA at Parsons School of design NYC. It was here Sussy developed her particular interest in American modernism & abstract expressionism.  Sussy’s initial career spanned the worlds of set design, theatre, art direction & furniture design, her love of drawing & bold colours always resonating strongly throughout her work.

Sussy’s work is a continual & unfolding exploration of weaving & dyeing techniques, of ways to translate her colour palette & drawings into bold, precise yet tranquil works of art.

Her travels across many continents to connect & learn with weaving artisans is an unceasing source of inspiration & ever evolving, the provenance of her work being deep rooted in her support for female based weaving collectives, organic dyes & sustainably sourced materials.
